|Rex Shachath - Sepulchral Torment|
Although Belfast five-piece Rex Shachath have only been together since 2011, they play as though they have been doing this for much, much longer.
This impressive debut release (available on Hostile Media) is a promising example of how great these guys can be, if given the support and time they need. This debut also features some chilling artwork from renowned artist Juanjo Castellano. The record was produced at The Oaks Studio, Enniskillen by John Moffat.
Clocking in at just over eighteen minutes, Rex Shachath have produced an EP of proper old school death metal at its best. Rex Shachath are a real diamond in the rough.
Title track 'Sepulchral Torment' is a rampant paced head pounding anthem with majestic guitar work from Andrew Pennington and Jonathan 'Frankie' Francis. The lineup is completed by Dave Connolly on vocals, Eddie West on bass guitar and Jay Rogers on skin pounding duty.
'Follow the Bastard Prophet' has possibly the most devilish growl put to tape in the last few years.
'Blind from Birth' is a pummelling short, sharp shock to the system, and the best track on this release. It opens with an energetic, blistering riff that grabs your attention from the off, until it reaches its furious climax.
Sepulchral Torment is out September 7th via Hostile media.
