A quarter of a century since their last, Exumer's third studio offering 'Fire & Damnation' is a fast paced, fist pumping and overall impressive return.
Considering this band originally formed in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1985, this record sounds incredibly fresh and current, whilst still retaining the unquestionable influence of early Slayer.
Though some of their lyrics could be described as a little cheesy, the musicianship is a thing of real beauty, no ballads here!
This is no more so evident than on 'Devil Chaser', which bursts to life with a brutal drum intro by Matthias Kassner on stick duty. With galloping riffs from guitar duo, H.K. and Ray Mensh, the album maintains a similar style the whole way through.
Other stand-out songs include 'Vermin of the Sky', 'Waking the Fire' and 'Tribal Furies'
In conclusion, this album is well worth a listen, with the special edition containing three extra live tracks. Welcome back guys!
